Keaghan Smith
Counseling Intern
Location: In-person, Telehealth

Keaghan (she/her) is a counseling intern in Central Michigan University’s master’s-level Counseling Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Development with a concentration in Community Health, along with a dual minor in Psychology and Cultural and Global Studies from Central Michigan University. Keaghan takes a warm, collaborative, and client-centered approach to therapy, drawing from multiple evidence-based modalities with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to meet each client where they are.
She believes therapy should be a safe, grounded space where individuals feel respected, understood, and supported as they make sense of their experiences. Keaghan is deeply committed to this work and strives to help clients feel less alone, more empowered, and capable of creating meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them. She has experience providing counseling to adults navigating anxiety, depression, and grief, and she has a particular interest in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals as they explore identity, relationships, and life transitions within an affirming and inclusive therapeutic space.
Keaghan approaches her work with compassion and advocacy, while remaining mindful of the social and systemic factors that shape clients’ lived experiences. Outside of the therapy space, she enjoys spending time with her wife and their four cats. She is an artist and an avid reader, and values creativity and storytelling as powerful ways of understanding the human experience.
